Hey America,
I hope everyone is doing well this week. Today I had to change my blog topic at the last minute due to a conversation I had with my mom. We were watching the news and a clip came across that sparked a discussion between us.
The clip was from the Obama speech on Friday, specifically the section where he shares his philosophy on the relationship between government and business. If you haven’t seen the speech I’d advise you to do so especially if you have any intentions on voting this fall. I say this because it shows Mr. Obama’s fundamental ideas about the role of government.
“If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that,” Obama said. “Somebody else made that happen.” The President went on to say that the government was part of everyone’s success implying that it would not be possible to succeed without help from the government. Some of the examples that he gave were even more extreme. I would quote them for you but I have decided to try and make my blogs a bit shorter from now on because my young audience has a much shorter attention span….I don’t blame you I’m the same way. However, the elders are probably laughing because they probably know what I mean….But I do suggest you look it up if you have the time.
Having said that, I’ll get straight to my point.
I said to my mom, “Here’s where I stand on this. If we had the money to help everyone out then that would be great, but we don’t…. I would love the government to be able to help people out…but we just simply can’t afford it, we’re in debt. So that is simply not a realistic thing to even talk about.”
My mom responded by giving me a GOOD OLD motherly analogy. Look at the children of movie stars she said. Many are spoiled, unsuccessful, and they don’t know what to do with themselves. If you give a child money they’re going to just walk around with their hand out. You can’t enable people because they will become lazy if you train them to be! That is always the case no matter what. Consequently, if this were true in the United States, our country would completely stagnate. Nobody would produce anything because they would expect the government to basically do it for them.
I almost always win our debates and when I don’t I always make something up just to disagree with her. She will disagree with the first half of that statement of course, but I had no response to what she said. It was the simplest analogy she could have given me. I couldn’t disagree with it one bit. People will become LAZY!
Mr. Obama is America’s parent that aims to spoil its children. He wants these children(the American People) to be reliant on him. And he doesn’t think that we can succeed without the government holding our hand…Literally.
If you disagree with the previous 3 paragraphs then I apologize. But like I said in my original statement, we still don’t even have money to enable people even if we wanted to. So why do we keep doing it?
The old people keep saying that we’re stealing from our children and it’s true. They are stealing and they’re stealing from me. My kid won’t have to worry about me doing it because he won’t even have anything left to steal from. And we do it at what price? The price of breeding a spoiled country I guess.
Oh and by the way, you’re not successful because you work hard everyday you’re successful because of the government, didn’t you get the memo?
Now go read the Daily Quote at the top 🙂
