Hey There Thinkers,

Today I want to talk to you about homeschooling. Many of the minds that shaped this nation were developed at home, several even educated themselves. As a product of both homeschooling and the public school system, I can vouch that there is a huge difference. One focuses on learning, and one focuses on testing. But aside from the fact that I learn more in the introduction of most novels than an entire year in public school, it is self-evident that a parent should have the right to educate their children as they choose.

(See Last Week’s Blog http://www.realtimesblog.com/?p=470)

In Germany homeschooling is illegal. Families who disobey this law will be harassed by authorities and even have their children taken from them. What? The Government owns your children, not you? Who could have instituted such a law?

Adolf Hitler. This law was imposed by none other than the Fuhrer himself because even he knew that control over the education system was key. In American schools today, there is one curriculum, one leftist agenda, and one culture that a student must adopt in order to be successful in school. For instance, a classmate sneezes: That can’t be followed by a “God Bless You” but instead a simple “Bless You” as some students may find that offensive. Students at my elementary school weren’t allowed to play TAG….”there’s a victim”. Not to mention Anti war, Pro Gay, and anti capitalistic messages, are promoted, while the founding fathers and constitutional views are deemed “old fashioned”. That, my friends, is just the tip of the iceberg. Even if you agree with these views you will hopefully still agree with me when I say that those who oppose the progressive views taught in schools should have the option to educate their children in a different manner.

Seeking refuge, a German family came to the United States. The family educated their children at home because they disagreed with the messages being taught in the public school system in Germany. This changed when they received threats from the government stating: their children would be taken from them. The family has been living here in America now for some time and have been enjoying their well earned freedom as they took the time to immigrate legally. However, the Obama administration is now trying to deport them. The administration’s grounds for the deportation state that the right to self-educate is not a universal human right. Well that’s scary…. Are we talking about the United States Department of Home Land Security, or are we talking about the fascist Nazi Regime? Their language sounds somewhat similar if you ask me….

As a product of homeschooling, I see this as a problem in the making. Our leaders should understand that learning does not magically occur within the walls of a classroom and anyone who has studied the lives of the founding fathers, KNOWS this. Therefore, the elimination of alternate education is purely an attempt to regulate what you can and can’t learn. It’s not WHETHER you’re learning, but WHAT you’re learning. And DO you have the option to learn what is REAL. Without that, education means nothing, we become robots. So why is it that conservatives are thought to have this anti immigrant sentiment? The Obama administration is harboring millions of illegal immigrants in this country, yet one family that has obtained a Visa, and is seeking asylum can’t live here? Seems a bit odd…doesn’t it? Oh, and let me also remind you that this family is not spending a dime of your tax money on educating their children. Think any of those illegal immigrants (who don’t pay any taxes) care about using their tax money on educating themselves? Now that’s something you won’t hear in the news.
