Good Morning Thinkers,
I’ve missed you guys! There hasn’t been a single week that has gone by where I haven’t thought about writing again and I’m proud to say I have decided to jump back into it.
Due to the fact that I don’t get paid(yet) for the hard work that I put into this blog, it is often somewhat hard to make myself write, but your support and kind words do help and I realize that there is a well deserved need for truth and simplicity in our world today and that’s what I try to do best.
Polls show that less than a third of the American public trusts the media these days. That stat, my friends, is staggering in itself! So I recognize the craving you guys have for something BASIC. On the blog, the recipe for truth is always going to come down to one basic question: What is REAL and what is Artificial? From here, I think most of us have heard the story about Notre Dame’s middle Linebacker Manti Te’O, and to be completely honest I am tired of hearing the story too. (if you haven’t look it up). But there’s something that’s being overlooked here.
In the beginning of the season, several newspapers and networks reported Te’O's situation and the tragedy that surrounded his grandmother and girlfriend. But the part that woes me is that none of these media outlets appeared to do any fact checking including major papers like the New York Times. These reports included occurrences from “Carson City California” and pictures of the girl who didn’t even exist (who was reported dead by these papers).
First off, there is no Carson City California to begin with! It doesn’t exist! Maybe move one state to the right and then try it and you might have some luck…There’s a “Carson,” I know this because it’s close to my house, but no “Carson City” Sorry. And none of these reporters could even fact check that? I would think, as a reporter, I would at least want to talk to the family and friends of the deceased before I wrote a column, that would be the minimum, but instead someone makes up a city and they all go with it because the story is just too good.
Friends, this is the problem. Forget Te’O and his unexplainable fabrication, the real story here is that the press played right into it. The media (and I’m not speaking for all outlets) in general is just pathetic. They irresponsibly forget their job and instead of digging and reporting the truth, they report the best story. If I wanted a story, I’d go read a book…wouldn’t you? But that’s what it boils down to—the basics! Simplicity, that is all we need, and it can always be this way if we say “What is REAL?” “Where is the truth here?” Our journalists didn’t ask these questions, they just reported the artificial. Things that are artificial are man made, yet the truth, my fellow thinkers, is divine and incorruptible.
